Part Four
Competitive Motoring
We hope by this point, you've discovered how much fun it can be to drive your
MINI fast and well on backroad tours, on autocross courses, or at track
days. Either that, or you are interested enough in learning how to improve
and drive the new MINI that you're reading the book all the way through
before you actually go out and play with your car. Either way, in this
section we will describe the various types of competitive activities that
will allow you to really challenge yourself as a MINI driver.
In addition, we will suggest upgrades to your car to make it perform even better, especially in competitive events. Though the upgrades we'll be suggesting may provide better handling and performance at the expense of a little comfort, none of them will make the car less usable or less safe on the street.
We'll also build on what you've already learned about driving well by
offering some further tips in this part of the book on autocrossing, and
on racing wheel-to-wheel with MINIs and other cars on the race track.
